Scotty Brand Chippy Chips
Scotty Brand is proud to introduce a new product into its existing range – frozen Chippy Chips!
The launch of Chippy Chips marks the first Scottish frozen chips in the market, filling a gap for customers and retailers. Made using Scottish grown potatoes, Scotty Brand chips are produced in a traditional chip-shop style with an authentically irregular cut. Designed to be either fried or oven cooked at home, they produce a perfect chip with a fluffy inside. You’ll just have to decide whether you want to serve them with salt & sauce or salt & vinegar!
Did you know?
- The first suggestion of a chip recipe was noted in the cook book ‘The Accomplished Cook’ in 1660, as an accompaniment to small roast fowl. The description reads ‘potato’s boil’d and fried in butter’ and is served alongside fried Parmesan!
- The Oxford English Dictionary states that Charles Dickens gave us the earliest recorded usage of ‘chips’ specifically, in his novel ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, published in 1859. In this they are described as ‘husky chips of potatoes, fried with some reluctant drops of oil’.
